Could Disney Be Developing a Discworld Movie?

November 3, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

There’s an opening in Disney’s schedule for 2014 and a new rumor says that Terry Pratchett could be filling it.

The latest rumor says the House of Mouse is working on a big-screen adaptation of Pratchett’s fourth Discworld novel, “Mort” for 2014.

The book follows the title character of Mort as he interns with Death. Hilarity ensues.

It wouldn’t be the first time Pratchett has been adapted. We’ve seen several British miniseries adapt the author’s Discworld novels the past several years.

The film would be a traditional animated feature, according to the rumors. According to the animation rumor mill, directors Ron Clements and John Musker are preparing storyboards.

    I’m torn on this.
First off it would be great to see Mort with all the money Disney could put behind it.

    and Second, its Disney.

Do I have to say more.

This is the post-PIxar Disney animation department. They may now be able to handle Sir Terry’s kind of humor.

I’ll look at “Tangled,” then decide if they’re ready.

I’m sorta with Clay on this one…. but I’m such a Discworld freak I’d probably love it even if it were poorly done.

Terry spoke about the US looking at Mort before and asking if they could ‘lose the Death character’ They need to have progressed. See you in Madison Rincewind1!
