Obama, Palin Part of New NBA Jam Video Game

Obama, Palin Part of New NBA Jam Video Game

October 5, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

nbajamWhatever side of the political aisle you’re on, you’ll most likely find an unlockable character to represent your point of view in the new NBA Jam.

USA Today reports the game is including unlockable likenesses of President Barak Obama, Vice President Biden, former president Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. John McCain and his onetime running mate Sarah Palin, former president George W. Bush and former vice president Dick Cheney.

“Since President Obama is a baller, we kind of blew it out even further,” Trey Smith, creative director of the game for EA Sports, tells USA Today. “When you dunk with him, he has some special animations and some special dunks.”

Players will have to earn the codes to unlock these secret characters by winning challenges in the game or by experimenting.

Both political teams have their own uniforms, logos and home courts. “It wasn’t like we just threw them in at the last minute,” Smith says. “It’s something we had planned from the get-go.”

The inclusion of politically inspired characters isn’t anything new for the franchise. An earlier version included then-President Bill Clinton.

Of course, you’ll also be able to play all the NBA teams and players during the game as well.

“NBA Jam” hits stores today.
