Looking to replace the Harry Potter films as a virtually guaranteed cash cow at the box-office, Warner Brothers revealed this summer that it will turn to the superheroes of DC Comics.
And while we’ve had a few hints, rumbles and rumors about how exactly that will unfold, we still don’t know a lot of specific details about the upcoming slate of DC superhero movies that are set to kick-off when “Green Lantern” opens.
That is about to change. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Warner will give us more details about their plans for the DC Universe next month.
According to Heat Vision, Warner Bros. will make “an organizational announcement next week,” followed by the release of “a spread sheet detailing how the various superheroes will be reintroduced to consumers, and on more than just feature film platforms,” in one month’s time.
Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer admits that the company has been looking after DC in a “custodial way” in the past. But when the “Harry Potter” franchise finishes its big screen run with next summer’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II,” the WB will need to get “much more entrepreneurial” with the DC Comics library in order to build new tent pole features.
