One of the unanswered questions from the final season of “Lost” was the name of the Man in Black on the island. We knew his brother’s name, Jacob, but the series never told us the name of the mysterious man played by actor Titus Wellever.
An auction of props and items used in the production of the series has turned up the answer.
According to the chair for Wellever, the character’s name was “Samuel.”

Uh, why am I thinking I knew this? Wasn’t it revealed when they were shown as kids? Or at some point?
Michael Mennenga says
I agree… I was sure I knew that. Hummm????
Bronzethumb (from Australia) says
“Samuel” was the name on the casting call, though (as with most Lost guest-stars) the description of the character was wildly different to what we saw on the screen. It probably wasn’t supposed to be his proper name either — the casting call for Jacob gave the character’s name as “Jason”.

Bronzethumb got to it before me, but yeah, I think Kristen over on E!Online scooped the name while the show was still on. I was a bit surprised that this was supposed to be a big deal, too!

Another little tidbit of info that makes no difference on a show that was almost made up as they went along and left more questions then they answered and when they realized it in the end, played the old “we dont wanna give it all away..we want some discussion after” bs that we love to hear when producers and writers find their back to a wall.
