New Spider-Man Cast

New Spider-Man Cast

July 2, 2010 By Michael Hickerson 8 Comments

And the new Peter Parker will be Andrew Garfield.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Entertainment made the announcement Thursday afternoon at a media event.

Garfield’s casting puts an end to months of speculation on who would take over the role of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot.  It seemed like every young actor in Hollywood was rumored to be in the running for the role.

The reboot will be directed by Mark Webb and is set to begin production later this year.

Garfield’s credits include last year’s Heath Ledger film “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” the Tom Cruise film “Lions for Lambs,” and the upcoming David Fincher Facebook movie, “The Social Network.”

“In the Spider-Man tradition, we were looking for a smart, sensitive, and cool new Peter Parker who can inspire us and make us laugh, cry, and cheer,” said Avi Arad, one of the producers on the “Spider-Man” franchise. “We believe we have found the perfect choice to take on this role and lead us into the future.”

    I find it funny

Appearently, the new spider man was in one of the worst episodees of the New Doctor Who….the Delaks in New York during the Great Depression one.

I liked those episodes actually. Heck, just the scene with the two Daleks trying to confer conspiratorially is worth it just for the laugh. I mean, it’s an attempt to have a conversation on the QT between two members of a species whose defining feature is the complete and utter lack of an INDOOR VOICE. *LOL*

Too Soon for a Reboot, GIve me a break. Toby is the character love him or hate him.

I think the reason for a quick reboot is that Marvel has had a lot of sucess in producing their own films they want to get it right with Spiderman as well. I can only hope that a reboot of The Fantastic Four is close at hand as well.
