“Lost” Finale Delivers Highest Audience in Two Years

May 25, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Whether or not they liked the finale, people tuned in to see at least some of it Sunday evening.

According to TV Guide, the two and a half hour series finale of “Lost” delivered 13.5 million viewers to ABC Sunday evening. While the ratings weren’t quite the blockbuster numbers ABC was hoping for, the finale was the highest rated episode for the series in two years.

ABC issued a statement that as many as 20.5 million unique visitors tuned in for at least six minutes of the finale (which seems odd since many of the segments seemed to last only four minutes and then had a ton of commercials.)

The finale helped ABC win the evening in terms of ratings.

The finale will air again Saturday evening.

Honestly, why would you see such a serialized show for the ending? I’ve been listening to a few shows and they’ve been moaning because they said that they were all dead, which wasn’t even the case if you had been watching the show or payed attention during the finale. It would be like me criticizing Grey’s Anatomy on it’s eventual series finale when I’ve never seen an episode. I’m glad it got the ratings, but the quality of it is in question. Whatever. Awesome series, awesome ending.

I was satisfied with the ending.. They’ve been answering questions all season, so I wasn’t expecting a huge revelation. The explanation for the “split” timeline was good, and yeah, I got a little emotional. 😉
