While Dreamworks is promoting the upcoming “Shrek Forever After” as the final installment in the series, several of those associated with the movie say that should the demand for more Shrek be there, they’re more than willing to fill it.
“I’m in!” said an enthusiastic Cameron Diaz, who voices Princess Fiona.
“Sure, I just play the voice of Shrek,” said Mike Myers. “I just can’t believe there’s a final chapter movie.”
Diaz added, “It’s like if somebody asked me, ‘Are you going to do ‘Charlie’s Angels’ 10 years from now?’ I’d go, ‘What? It’s a little bit different fitting in those tight pants from 10 years ago.’ But ‘Shrek’, of course, it’s just that we get to go back to whatever they will be 10 years from now, and hopefully we won’t have to wait that long, Jeffrey Katzenberg,” adds Diaz, referring to the DreamWorks chief.
Antonio Banderas, who voices Puss in Boots in all of the films, added, “Well, it’s sad on one side, but very satisfying, because the four movies with ‘Shrek’ is actually even playing against pop culture, and it became pop culture itself.”
Thankfully, some of those on the creative team are talking about this being the final installment.
“I’ve been on all four Shreks for 12 years, and on May 21 [the release date] I’m not getting paid anymore,” said executive producer Aron Warner. “It is definitely our intent that it’s the last film.”
The final “Shrek” film opens in theaters Friday.

I’m up for as many sequels as the original cast is willing to make.

What she really means is pretty obvious. She wants more big paychecks from Shrek movies!
