Actor Robert Culp, best known for his work on the 60’s series “I, Spy,” has passed away at the age of 79.
Culp’s career spanned several decades in Hollywood with the actor also having a role on “The Greatest American Hero” and seen recently in a recurring role on the comedy “Everybody Loves Raymond.”
According to the Los Angeles Times, Culp was rushed to the hospital last night after a fall in his home. The actor passed away at the hospital.
A native of Oakland, Calif., he graduated from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
Although often considered only a television actor, Mr. Culp worked in the movies as well, as naval officer John F. Kennedy’s friend Ensign George Ross in “PT 109”; as gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok in “The Raiders” and as the fiance of Jane Fonda in the romantic comedy “Sunday in New York.” He went on to star in “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice” in 1969. Mr. Culp also played the president in Alan J. Pakula’s 1994 murder mystery “The Pelican Brief.”

I, Spy was one of the shows I watched during my first year in the US (1966). I can even say it helped me learn the language.
I don’t think he ever did anything else I liked, but that show and Culp are a good memory. Even got me into tennis before I recognized racquetball as a much better sport.

He was great on Outer Limits, he was great on Everybody Loves Raymond and I am sorry to see him go.

Remember “Demon with a Glass Hand” was an episode of The Outer Limits television series, the second to be based on a script by Harlan Ellison, which Ellison wrote specifically with actor Robert Culp in mind for the lead role. It originally aired on 17 October 1964, and was the fifth episode of the second season. (courtesy Wikipedia). Mr. Culp did a great job!
