Fans of “Smallville” are counting down the days until the long-anticipated episode centering on the Justice Society debuts.
The episode, written by long-time comic book writer Geoff Johns, will air in late January and could be a two-hour event for the series.
Recently, producer Brian Peterson offered TV Guide’s Matt Holbrook a few hints about what fans can expect when the episode airs.
“We have basically turned it into a mini-movie. And from the footage that is coming in, it looks as good if not better than any hero movie that has been out in the last two years,” he says.
Peterson said “Smallville” worked hard to make sure the Society’s appearance was “relevant” to the on-going story arc, adding that “they show up in a time when our fledgling League, that has not named itself or coalesced into anything, is having a few growing pains. So they are coming in to teach all of our heroes a lesson about family and leadership from the mistakes of their own past.”
“They are actually from the past. When we meet them they have been underground and are an older generation of heroes that Clark and Chloe and our generation of heroes didn’t even know existed. They kind of come out of the woodwork and there are a few sparks between our characters and the JSA members at the beginning of the [story],” he added.
We already know that actor Michael Shanks will be part of the league as Hawkman.
The episode is set to air in late January of next year.

This show ran out of excuses as to why Clark still hasn’t put on the red cape become Superman years ago. And the more they dig out costumed heroes from the DCU, the less sense their “no tights, no flights” rule makes

That is why I want this season to be the last. The last few seasons have been great (as a whole) and the seasons have steadily been leading up to his donning the cape and flying off. He has already “flown” a couple of times and this season is wearing his family’s crest (ie. the S).so it can’t be long now. This show has become about Superman and not just his Smallville days. So it kinda makes sense to at least plant the Justice Society seeds.

What? Smallville still comes on? All I get is repeats from 2002 on the High Definition channel.
