    Nooooo!!!! . . . . my December driving dark and dreary will be . . .

Umm, couldn’t we just relisten to the podcast if we want to hear an interview again?

Why isn’t Jonathan Coulton amongst the options? 🙁

I agree, why not listen to waht you want in the archives

If you guys want time off, just do a 2 – 3 minute episode and provide link to old show.

Holy aural adventures!! . . . we can do that? We can listed to old episodes?!?

The two-minute shows work great for a podcast-only show, but stuff needs to go to XM as well.

Plus Mike needs an excuse to have some podcasting and editing fluid on Thursday nights when we’re off.

Coulton isn’t on the list because the list is culled from interviews we’ve done for the last six months.

Unfortunately, Coulton wasn’t on the show during that time.

So, you guys are telling me that *none* of you *ever* clicked on the link in the nav bar that says “Show Archives” and gone through the list to check out the old shows?

Wow… okay. I’ve cleaned up the list so that the pictures and the embedded web players aren’t cluttering up the page anymore, but please, go click on “Show Archives” in the nav bar up there and check out all the shows, going back to our very first ones.

    Go ahead… the link won’t bite… promise!

And yes, the reason for full reruns is for the Sirius-XM Radio broadcasts… the same shows you listen to on your computers and iPods also air on XM Channel 163 and Sirius Channel 117… check the Sirius/XM image on the sidebar for all the airtimes.

Sarcasm is wasted on the young . . . and women.

  11. Summer Brooks says

EJ, you do realize I can hurt you, right? 🙂

Attempts at sarcasm, especially in print and in forums, are a waste of everyone’s time, and are typically only a benefit to the writer who erroneously thought that sarcasm was an equal substitute for wit.

And yes, there are a lot of people who have no idea they can listen to the old shows on the website, or download them individually. I get emails asking have we ever interviewed so-n-so when it’s obvious from the archives that we’ve talked to them 2 or 3 times.

Going by feedback, I’d guess for every wiseacre remark, there are 15 people who are asking the question for real.

The emails we get from people who think we’re the voice and power behind Syfy Channel are also amusing. For the longest time people would ask me where could they find instructions to be a contestant on “our” show Cha$e and Estate of Panic, or threatening bodily harm if “we” didn’t bring back Eureka or air it more often.

One woman *argued* with me, saying that i had to be affiliated with Syfy Channel because I answered her email, and to stop telling her that I wasn’t. That conversation hurt my brain.

If I had any say over programming at Syfy, I’d put more Eureka on along with a few other shows, get some better reruns in the late night mix, and put a small thermonuclear device in the division paying for those atrocious weekend movies and give their budget to the miniseries people, so they’d give me two major miniseries events a year instead of one, and go from there.

So on occasion I still get surprised when “the obvious” on the website apparently isn’t so anymore, and this post was the perfect opportunity for me to point out the archives listing changes for the archives to people who weren’t aware.

And now that I think about it, I wouldn’t try to fix Syfy… I’d go build my own channel or network. I have been enjoying what NBC Universal seems to be doing better with Chiller Channel and Sleuth Channel, so maybe a fresh new start is what the genre needs.

    Hmmm . . . maybe I should rephrase that . . . sarcasm is wasted on young women . . . ah, who am I kidding.

Now that we both had a good laugh, I must sadly inform you as one ages sarcasm is not only equal, but superior to plain ole wit since, as you probably know all too well, as one ages one starts to lose their wits. Once at wits end, sarcasm is the only thing left.

Oh sure, there are those who hang on, threatening bodily harm and the like, but they are just fooling themselves. Now, if you excuse me, I must go and foist my excellent substitute for wit onto the world at large.

Alas, If my sense of humor is going to fade away as I grow older and more cranky about the endless remakes of my scifi memories, then all I will have to live for is the endorphin rush of physical contact in it’s many pleasurably violent forms.

Wish me luck, and the company of those with their wits still about them!

It’s not on this list, but I thought the interview you did with Dr. Michio Kaku was a really great one, I wouldn’t mind hearing that one again, or another interview with him if you get the chance. Pretty please? With a cherry on top? 🙂 But I guess that one wasn’t within the past couple of months.

But….if you’re doing a best of Slice show, why limit yourselves to the past couple of months?

    @summer

Hmmm . . . . “physical contact in it’s many pleasurably violent forms” . . . as a gentleman I will cease contemplating as to what this means.

    . . . and my best wishes for a sarcasm-free life.

    *tranquilizes Summer*

There… with that out of the way!

We have to put SOMETHING out for XM/Sirius like Tim said. So since we’re going to have to produce some shows anyways we might as well re-run the interviews folks want to listen to. Yes you could just re-download the older show if you’d rather but I think Mike is going to mix these ones up a bit so they won’t be like past re-runs. Now this isn’t to say you HAVE to download a free podcast and re-listen if you don’t want to.

It was a coin toss for me, but the two funniest interviews of the past six months were David Blue from SG:Universe, and Ray Wise from Reaper. I ultimately went with Ray.

  24. VyseN1 says

I would have to go with David Blue, Bridget Regan, and Joshua Gomez.

  25. Gary from Jacksonville says

I had to go with Allison just for the sheer fun factor. Heck, I just hope Mike won’t replay the Fox Leader voicemail show over the holidays,

I would like to see (hear) a complilation of the Trivia segments.
