Ready for more “Doctor Horrible?”
If you are, then we’ve got good news for you. A comic prequel written by the co-creator and co-writer of the original Emmy winning web series, Zach Whedon, is headed to a comic store near you.
Hitting stands later this month is a prequel comic that will give us more of the story of the title character before the events we saw in the web series.
“It’s a prequel to the web series, and you get to see his first of many embarrassing encounters with Captain Hammer,” Whedon tells MTV News of the 24-page story, which hits shelves November 18. “But the web series is really an origin story too, so this is a little prelude to that.”
The comic comes from Dark Horse and is the latest in a series of one-off comics about the universe. Previous installments have focused on Moist, Captain Hammer and Penny.
The new comic, focused on Dr. Horrible, will include a bit where we’ll see why Dr Horrible was getting beat up by Captain Hammer during a flashback from the web series.
“At one point in the web series, there’s a montage of Captain Hammer kicking Dr. Horrible’s ass, and this is sort of an expanded version of one of those instances,” he said. “It’s really his first attempt at being a big-time supervillain.”
