With news that Bruce Campbell has been offered a big role in the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” hitting the ‘Net this week and production gearing up for the film, Columbia has decided on a release date for the next installment.
The movie will open on Thursday, May 5, 2011. The movie will be the first of the 2011 summer movie season and will be shown in both conventional and IMAX theaters. No word yet on if director Sam Raimi might follow the lead of Christopher Nolan and film some of “Spidey 4” using IMAX technology.
The past two “Spidey” films were also shown in the IMAX theaters.
Columbia also confirmed yesterday that actress Kirsten Dunst will return as Mary Jane Watson for the fourth installment.
Come on. Kirsten “I can’t act my way out of a wet paper bag with directions and a flashlight” Dunst? Again?
