Guess Who May Crop Up on “Smallville” Next Year

Guess Who May Crop Up on “Smallville” Next Year

August 17, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

allisonscagliottiIconic D.C. characters appearing in “Smallville” is nothing new.  In the past eight seasons, we’ve had Aquaman, Flash and Doomsday just to name a few.  That doesn’t even take into consideration the long-running rumor that Bruce Wayne might make a guest appearance (despite producers routinely denying the story).

And the series hasn’t shied away from giving us its take on some of the more minor characters from the Superman and D.C. panetheon.

But the upcoming season may feature some of the most interesting guest characters from the D.C. universe yet.

Actors David Gallagher and Allison Scagliotti have been cast for the fifth episode of the upcoming season, according to KryptonSite.

Who might they be playing, you ask?  Well, it’s kind of SPOILERish, so if you don’t want to know, turn back now….

KrytonSite is reporting that the actors could be cast as Zan and Jana, aka the Wonder Twins from the popular 70s and 80s cartoon series, “The Super Friends.”

In you’ve seen the show, you may recall that Zan and Jana were aliens who activated powers allowing them to change into other things to battle evil.  Jana clearly got the better end of the deal, being able to transform into any animal she called out while Zan could change into forms of water–and more often than not was an ice chair to haul around Gleek the Monkey.

No word yet on if Gleek will make a guest appearance or not.

Gallagher is best known for his work on the television series “Seventh Heaven” where he played Simon.  Scagliotti has been recently seen on the genre series “Warehouse 13.”

Please note that as of this report, this is an unconfirmed rumor.  The only thing confirmed is the actors will guest star at that Gallagher will play a role as “Tanner” and Scagliotti will play “Twyla” which  many fans think is a code for “Zan” and “Jana”  to try and keep the guest-role under wraps.

“Smallville” returns to the CW in September.

Okay, it’s official. This should REALLY be the last season for the show if they’re dragging in the freaking Wonder Twins. Clearly the writers have run out of good ideas.

I think it’s interesting that they’re willing to use characters from the comic books (instead of doing the tiresome freak-of-the-week’s from the first five or so seasons of the series). I, for one, applaud it. And how bad could it be? They’ve already used the Green Arrow, the Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, and Doomsday. And those seemed to work out well enough.

Who I’d really like to see again, since I’m talking about characters, is Perry White. But I’m not sure if Michael McKean is available to do it.

[…] we’ll see Metallo (that’s actually definite – he’s in the trailer), the Wonder Twins, and Green Arrow’s sidekick, “Speedy” this season. Hopefully that turns out […]
