Dunst Signs for “Spider-Man 4”

June 8, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

While promoting the upcoming “Taking of Pelham 123,” producer Todd Black dropped some tidbits about the upcoming production of “Spider-Man 4.”

The two biggest pieces of news are that actress Kirsten Dunst has signed on for the fourth installment, reprising her role as Mary Jane Watson and that the big villian for the fourth installment will not be the vampire Morbius.

Black said that despite the current hot nature of stories about vampires, “Spider-Man 4” will draw on one of the A-list tier of villains and not “the B-list.”

“”We’re just coming up with who the villain’s going to be now. We’ll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it’ll be a big part of New York,” Black told the New York Post.   That led the New York Post to speculate the villain could be Kraven the Hunter or the Kingpin.  (Though the Kingpin has appeared on-screen in “Daredevil.”)

Black also said that the upcoming film will not center on the wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson.

Let’s face it. Dunst was “ok” in only one thing – Star Trek. Since then, she’s coasted on name recognition alone. She can not act. And as bad as Spider-Man 3 was (and gods, it was truly awful), she let her “acting” sink to a whole new sub-basement of shlock.

It’s almost like a game. Which “actor” is the worse death call for a film? Will Ferrell or Kirsten Dunst?

Any chance she could get caught in the rain again wearing a T-shirt?? Maybe with some friends?
