Fedak Talks “Chuck” Season Three

May 29, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Now that “Chuck” has been given the green light for season three, attention can now be turned to how the new season may develop.

Series co-creator Chris Fedak assures fans that the series will build on the cliffhanger from season two and that the abilities Chuck downloaded from the new Intersect won’t go away any time soon.

“Absolutely. Get ready for excitement,” Fedak told SciFi Wire. “And we also look forward to deepening the mythology of the show, learning more about our characters, and, most importantly, having fun.”

Fedak was mum on how these new found abilities and Chuck’s choice at the end of season two will impact his relationship with Sarah.  Fedak said the writers are still working on hammering out details of how things will play out, but did tease that there will be some romance in the third season.

But before we can get to that third season, we’ve got a long time with “Chuck.”  Fedak says that the producers and NBC are working to make sure awareness of the show continues during the hiatus.

“We’re talking to NBC now about what is going to be the super-clever idea to kind of bridge that time. It is going to be something on the Internet to keep fan awareness alive and remind people about the show,” Fedak said.

And Fedak says that the series has a chance to relaunch and build excitement during NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics.  Fedak also says he thinks having “Chuck” debut with NBC’s new series, “Day One” will give both shows a boost.  Fedak did say that “schedules aren’t set in stone,” and “Chuck” could be asked to come back earlier and in a different time slot, if NBC deems it necessary.

Right now, the show is gearing up for production this summer and Fedak says he’s excited about more “Chuck.”

“We’re actually just getting back up and running with our writers,” Fedak said. “So I am knee-deep in the writers’ room working on story, kind of cutting into how we’re going to tell this epic season of ‘Chuck’… We have some really fun, super-exciting stories up on the board, and we can’t wait to tell them.”

“Chuck” returns in 2010.

There are so many places that this can go. I’m also extremely curious about how they are going to carry the antics of the Buy More on during season 3, especially with the Morganic changes.
