Carter Endorses Dushku for “Wonder Woman”

Carter Endorses Dushku for “Wonder Woman”

March 5, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Kerri Russell may have some competition to take on the big-screen role of “Wonder Woman” should the movie ever see the light of day.

The woman who brought Wonder Woman to life in the 70s, Lynda Carter, has endorsed “Dollhouse” actress Eliza Dushku for the role. During a recent interview with WENN, Carter insisted the world needed a new version of Diana/Wonder Woman and that she thought the team of Dushku and Joss Whedon would be an ideal one to bring the character to the big-screen.

“I’ve always liked Joss, and Eliza would make a great Wonder Woman,” Carter said.

Carter has even offered her services to help groom the next Wonder Woman.

She adds, “People worry about, ‘I really helped with this movie and I didn’t get paid,’ which I could care less about. People don’t usually contact the original people to find things out because they’re afraid of being sued claiming it was their idea. I hope if they make the movie it makes a bajillion (millions) dollars, which means they’ll continue to make them.”

I do appreciate Eliza Dushku in most things, but not this one. She is 5’5 whereas Lynda Carter (and Wonder Woman herself) is 5’11”. Wonder Woman is supposed to have this larger-than-life physicality and, while Dushku is very, very attractive, I can’t see her pulling this off, especially on the large-screen.

BROOKE SHIELDS is hands-down the BEST possible choice for Wonder Woman – she combines wide-eyed innocence and grit (remember her ‘Brenda Starr’ movie in the early 90’s???) with a tall frame (those LEGS …), good acting, and sophistication (see her work in Lipstick Jungle). Add a Wonder Bra and, presto, the PERFECT Wonder Woman !!! Toss in Timothy Dalton as Steve Trevor …

Fans should start a draft movement and call on Brooke to play the role …

Other PERFECT Casting Ideas we’ll never see:

Clive Owen IS James Bond … could be as good as Sean Connery in the role …
Fabio as THOR, God of Thunder … just PICTURE it …
Bring back Patrick Stewart as Dr Xavier in X Men … he was BORN to play him!
Adrian Paul (Highlander TV series) or Timothy Dalton as Robin Hood …
The ROCK (Dwayne Johnson) as Doc Savage, Man of Bronze …

I could see it if the Wonder Woman movie involves many, many scenes requiring the expression of a mind-wiped individual.

OK, that was unfair. But, in my defense, she still has not shown me she can act . . . not even when wielding a flashlight.

I figure if they can make Tom Cruise look tall on a big screen, then they can pull off Dushku as Wonder Woman with minimal effort. I say go for it!!
