Swimmer, Slavkin Leaving “Smallville”

Swimmer, Slavkin Leaving “Smallville”

February 10, 2009 By Michael Hickerson 4 Comments

Should the series continue for a ninth season, “Smallville” will need two new executive producers. Producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin will be leaving the show at season’s end to work on the CW’s revival of “Melrose Place.”

No word yet on who might replace the two as producers on the series. The Los Angeles Times indicated that Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson would be the leading candidates to assume the show-runner duties.

And while there’s no offical renewal yet for a season nine, sources say a ninth season green-light is imminent. The big hold up appears to be finalizing a contract with series star Tom Welling.

However, according to reports should Welling choose to not return for a ninth season, producer are already working on ways for the series to finish and begin a new spin-off series.

Can’t we leave all those crappy 90’s shows in the 90’s where they belong? Yeesh

Sweet jeebus, I hope it’s finally ending. The quality has been going downhill for the past three seasons or so. The time has come to let it go.

If they could manage a Green Arrow or, even better, a live action Justice League series, that would be pretty cool. But since they lost Michael Rosenbaum, the powers that be have really been struggling (and failing) to find a new nemesis to replace Lex. You just can duplicate that kind of chemistry.

:O Michael Rosenbaum left??? Not so good.

Sorry, I stopped watching Smallville in like season 4, but I’ve just come back to it to watch season 8. This season is shaping up to be really good, especially with the whole Doomsday plot and Sam Witwer being in it…but that’s a shame that Michael Rosenbaum isn’t going to be in it anymore. Loved him in Zoe, Jack, Duncan & Jane, and really didn’t like him in Smallville (not cause I didn’t like *him* in it, Lex is just mean…).

Dear god, please let it end!! I’m a fan of the show, but holy crap they seem like they are going out of there way to just screw it up at this point. I understand wanting to keep a hit show on the air, but you should not do it at the cost of the parent property. Doomsday should not be anywhere near this show, and Clark should just have met Lois the first couple of eps into him working at the planet. Oh well, all I can say is if it does continue for another season, it will be with out me.
