Ryan Joins “Doctor Who”

January 23, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Earlier this week, we reported that former “Bionic Woman” actress Michelle Ryan was in talks to appear in “Doctor Who.”  At the time, the rumor-mill indicated she would be joining new Doctor Matt Smith as the latest companion.

Now comes official word from the BBC that Ryan will appear in the upcoming special, “Planet of the Dead.”  Ryan will take on the role of Lady Christina de Souza, a woman who with a mysterious past who will have an impact on the Doctor.

“I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who and very excited to be joining David Tennant and the Doctor Who team,” said Ryan. “It is such a fantastic show and I can’t wait to get started!”

“Michelle is one of the most sought after young actors in the country and we are delighted to announce that she will be joining the team,” said Executive Producer and writer Russell T Davies.

Whether or not Ryan will continue on as a companion or if this is a special one-time guest role remains to be seen.

Look forward to seeing the show. I would not be unhappy if she was the next companion.

I agree. I’m one of the few ppl who actually liked BW, and I happen to think that Michelle is a decent actress.(as long as they keep her natural accent!)
