BBC Will Reveal Tennant’s Replacement Saturday

January 2, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

After months of speculation, the identity of the eleventh Doctor will be revealed tomorrow evening as part of a special “Doctor Who Confidential” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

According to reports, the decision was made over the Christmas holiday and is being made early to allow for scripts for the upcoming series five to reflect the actor chosen for the role.  Speculation on who will inherit the mantle of the latest Doctor has ranged from practically every working British actor (or so it seems at times).

“We believe the actor is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it absolutely their own,” BBC Wales head of drama Piers Wenger said. “I just can’t wait to tell everyone who it is — it has been a nail-biting Christmas trying to keep this under wraps.”

As soon as we have news of the identity of the new Doctor, we’ll bring it to you here on Slice of SciFi.

I thought it was Patterson Joseph? Or was that just a rumour?

I think it would be neat if it were Reginald Dwight. But I think that could also be really weird. Of course, the BBC doesn’t have the cash to sway him.

Patterson Joseph is rumored to be the front-runner for the role, though reports in the last day by the BBC say fans will be surprised….
