“Supernatural” Has Strong Thursday

November 17, 2008 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

On this week’s episode of Slice of SciFi, we spoke to “Supernatural” producer and writer, Sera Gamble.

Gamble talked about the development of the supernatural drama and teased fans about the two-part story that began last Thursday. Part of the story was to provide fans with some answers to some lingering questions.

Apparently, a lot of people were interested in finding out what happened. “Supernatural” garnered the highest ratings the series has had in two years Thursday evening.

The CW drama earned a 2.5 rating/4 share in Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, up nearly 9 percent from its already large audience last week, and up nearly 14 percent of its season average after nine episodes.

Last season, “Supernatural” reached a high of just 2.2/3 following “Smallville,” but either topped or matched that high over the first four episodes of this season. After a couple weak outings in mid-October, “Supernatural” returned to form by Halloween, and has been steadily building ratings each week.

This is good news for fans of the show and the CW. “Supernatural” is more than holding its own in an extremely competitive Thursday time slot. Hopefully, these solid and growing numbers will encourage CW to allow the show to continue until its natural (or should we say unnatural) conclusion.

Thanks for the Sera Gamble interview!

The CW ratings for last Thursday are inflated though due to football being shown in part of NY-Boston area this past week, so those ratings numbers are not all for Supernatural.

But regardless of that adjustment, the ratings overall this season are really good. Supernatural has been wonderful this season. I’m so glad that more people are starting to watch this show.

And with the upcoming break, folks can catch up over the holidays before the back half of the season starts. I would love to hear Slice interview more of the SPN cast and crew sometime (like Eric Kripke, Kim Manners, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles).
