According to BoxOffice Mojo, Monday’s box-office earnings of $6.2 million put “The Dark Knight” over the $400 million mark. The Christopher-Nolan-directed film is the first movie of the year to cross the $400 million mark. Some are speculation that the latest Batman film could topple all-time box-office champion “Titanic.”
Last week, we reported that the next “Futurama” direct-to-DVD feature “Bender’s Game” was tentatively slated for a November release. Today we can confirm that the third installment of the series’ fifth season will hit shelves on Tuesday, November 4.
The third season-premiere of “Eureka” delivered the highest ratings the show has seen since its series premiere three summers ago. The 2.8 million viewers was the highest rating for an episode of a SciFi original series since the series premiere and, overall, the ratings for the third season-premiere were up ten percent over last year’s premiere.
After selling 1.3 million copies in a 24-hour period, the fourth installment of Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” saga, “Breaking Dawn” has gone back to the printing press. An additional 500,000 copies were ordered, taking the original print run up to 3.7 million copies. This puts the novel in the same league as memoirs by Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, but no where close to the record print-run of the final installment of the “Harry Potter” novels.
“Stargate Atlantis” will move time-slots yet again according to TV Squad. The series continues its fifth season on SciFi at 10 p.m. through September 26th, with a week off for the Labor Day holiday weekend. After a pre-emption for the two-hour premiere of “Sanctuary” the series will return on October 10th at 9 p.m. EST and continue to run through at least the end of October, when it will take a break at the season’s middle.
No word yet on how long the break will last. Current speculation is that the final ten episodes of the season may be paired with the return of “Battlestar Galactica” in January.
