Gnomes the Butt Of This Joke

Gnomes the Butt Of This Joke

June 28, 2008 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

Surprise! This box contains the Bling Gnome! He helps solve this adventurer’s drudgery by eating items and, um, well, digesting them and then “producing gold” on the spot.

How do you compete in a crowded market? Stand out. For Dunegon Runners (the mother of all RPGs), the secret to success in a gaming niche filled like stretch pants at an all-you-can-eat buffet by World of Warcraft, you start by offering free play and then sweeten the deal with a lot of irreverant humor.

But why stop there? Why not toss in some gnomes with a special talent?

Read more of the David Thomas article in The Omaha Examiner.

David Thomas is a nationally syndicated videogame journalist, critic and teacher. He co-authored the Videogame Style Guide and Reference Manual, so he knows that PONG is written in uppercase and that it wasn’t the first videogame. His current favorite game of all time is Rock Band.
