OK, guys. I loved Blood Ties. It was a fun show to watch. But it’s over. Really. No more episodes. Put all this effort into curing global warming, or feeding the hungry, or getting your favorite candidate elected. This, truly, is not a “cause”. It’s a TV show!

What and miss out on all the fun of going on an epic quest to try and influence what TV shows we get to see?
NOT going to happen. 🙂
The active fandoms for shows like Firefly and Farscape have been a factor in why those TV shows have had new content created long after their so called cancellations.
This passion is a good part of the reason why I look the Scifi genre so much.

Hello Pot, I’m one of the Kettles that can’t let go.
I’m just glad you are taking the time out of saving the world to read & post comments on ‘Slice of Scifi’. Seems that Scifi stuff really can distract you huh? *giggles*
Sorry love the show…small joys in life and all, just can’t let go, NEVER!
WHOOT for B.T.

While I appreciate the effort to get the show back on, the truth is that the efforts to get shows back on get diluted when “every” cancelled show gets a save the show effort. Maybe Blood Ties is one of those shows. But not every show is going to get saved by nuts or letters or whatever. I get what you are saying Lisa.

I’ve never been a bandwagoner and some shows just have run their course and are DONE. (Like Angel and Xena etc.) That’s not the case with Blood Ties though.
There is still so much of the story to tell and it’s such a creative take on the paranormal detective show.
No it’s not a ‘vamp’ detective show. The vamp isn’t even the detective he just helps the woman who is. And thats the beauty of this show and one reason it needs to be saved. The main charater is a woman. A strong independant woman who has a cop, a goth girl and a vampire a sidekicks.
The banter between the charatcers is humorous. The leads are attractive and cleaver and the show is just plain fun to watch.
Those who say ‘give it up’ obviously haven’t had the chance to be enchanted by this show.
It’s unfortunate that it may die off because of bad timing and lack of initial support. It launced in the middle of a network change of hands and was lost along the way, and then the ONE US network that picked it up didnt even advertise it.
So sad that it took so long for people to hear about it.
I just hope that we didnt find this wonderful show too late.
I applaud all who hangs in there and fights it out. I’ll be there right with you. Congrats on a step forward.

Lisa-everyone is entitled to have an opinion. But since there is absolutely NOTHING worth watching on TV nowdays I’m not ashamed of my efforts to try to keep this show on. In the vast wasteland of TV filled with idiotic reality shows, games shows, etc. there are very few GOOD or GREAT shows that allow you to get away from the “real world” for an hour. This show had a strong female lead in it, STILL SOMETHING FEW AND FAR BETWEEN SEEN ON TV SHOWS. It was well written, well acted, and the chemistry between the main characters was magic.
I donate to food banks, I give to the United Way, so I don’t feel guilty if I try to save a show. And believe it or not, once in a while a miracle DO happen. It may or may not happen in this case, but at least I won’t have to regret that I didn’t try to do something to save it. After all paraphasing Henry: AN ETERNITY IS A LONG TIME TO LIVE WITH REGRET.

Dear Lisa,
You go and put all of your effort into political candidates, global warming, and feeding the hugry if you think it will do some good! I will stick with something I believe in and leave it at that! I won’t give up until I’m ready!

Let it go?
Gee wonder what would have happened if the Star Trek fans had done that after it was cancelled by NBC all those years ago. No movies, Next Generation, Voyeger etc.
Personally I’m glad that they kept up the fight like we are going to.

Hello!!! FRED & LISA……’How are you???’ look, like one of my fellow blood sistahs said, you’re entitled to you all’s opinion. But from now on, P-L-E-A-S-E spend more time feeding the hungry, stopping global warming, electing our next president and less time telling us to quote ‘give it up’. We’re not hearing you, OKAY! if INSIGHT FILM STUDIOS and KALEIDOSCOPE ENTERTAINMENT INC. are not throwing in the towel, then guess what, we’re not either. This show means too much to us to just ‘let it go’, we won’t let go until it is really over, and not a moment sooner. So continue to just do your thing and leave the hard stuff to us BLOOD TIES FANS…..THANK U!!!…………….”

OK, while Blood Ties may be “just a TV show,” it’s a TV show that is entertaining and thought-provoking, funny and scary, romantic and dramatic. Until a few months ago, it was being shown on Lifetime (Television for Women), which was fitting, since Blood Ties’ main character is a strong, independent woman who, more often than not, is the one to rescue her male sidekicks rather than the other way around. Yet inexplicably, Lifetime decided not to renew it, supposedly due to low ratings. But the fact is, Lifetime treated Blood Ties like an illegitimate child at a family reunion, first, by giving it the worst time slot they could find (Friday night at 11:00), and second, by hardly ever advertising it. Lifetime set Blood Ties up to fail. All we want is for Blood Ties to be given a fair chance. Buffy didn’t hit it’s stride until the second season. For Blood Ties to be this good after only one season is proof of it’s incredible potential! Blood Ties already has a large and growing fanbase. If another network were to pick Blood Ties up and give it a decent time slot and the promotion it deserves, there’s no telling how huge the fanbase could grow!

Blood Ties is still gaining new fans. Even though it’s off the air in the US and Canada (re-runs maybe)it is still being picked up and aired around the world. This show has a universal appeal, why would we just abandon it and it’s huge potential?
Let’s hope the ads have the desired effect and help us to get what we ALL want, more seasons of Blood Ties

Well as a Blood Ties fan. I still and will continue to watch it every tuesday, wednesday and saturday night (in Canada, on Space and City TV). I really don’t care what people say about the show but i have watched every single vampire series from Forever Knight to Blood Ties and every vampire movie possible. I must say though that from all the movies and shows i have watched, Blood Ties will always be NO. 1 to me. When the DVD comes to canada, i will be the first in line to buy it. Also with the new Tanya Huff book.that came out called BLOOD BANK…thank you Tanya Huff…with the cover of Blood Ties Henry and Vicki in the elevator….excellent book…WE BLOOD TIES FANS WILL NEVER GIVE UP……Thank you.

I think that Blood Ties was one show that made me look forward to watching TV again. It was always exciting, new and fresh. The actors were strong and embodied Tanya Huff’s characters, and with the writing, the show became addiciting to watch. We should start a new campaign, where everyone involved is DEDICATED TO WRITING TO ONLY AMERICAN BROADCASTER, that way our message is doubled in volume towards the broadcaster we really want. Compareed to everyone writing to any American broadcaster. WE SHOULD ALL JUST WRITE TO EITHER SCI-FI OR THE CW in my opinion.

I am still willing to try to get Blood Ties back in anyway possible. It was a great show, and I believe that if more people came together and spread the word about saving the show then it would have a real possibility of being saved. This show is worth your time to save. Other shows like “jericho” and “Arrested development” were put back on the air b/c their fans were creative and kept pressing on to save thier shows. Here is a site of tips on how those shows got put back on the air. http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-get-a-cancelled-show-back-on-the-air
