The Yellow People From Springfield Return

The Yellow People From Springfield Return

June 3, 2008 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

Amid speculation that the long-running animated series “The Simpsons” might have seen its last days of new episodes because of a pay dispute between Fox and the show’s famous voice actors, now comes news that those favorite yellow folk from Springfield will make their way back in primetime.

Months of negotiations has netted the studio and its stars a new four-year deal. Final negotiations were concluded over the weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new contract guarantees the series’ top actors nearly $400,000 per episode. Each now surpasses the current highest paid actor in televison — Charlie Sheen, who reportedly brings down a cool $350,000 per episode for his sitcom “Two and a Half Men.”

Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer Simpson and other lesser characters for the show is now named in the contract as a consulting producer, getting him a little more pocket change.

All the voice actors of the show, Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa) and Hank Azaria (Moe), are scheduled to return to work today (Tuesday).

Harry Shearer, who voices Mr. Burns and Ned Flanders, is still in negotiations and even if he doesn’t have a deal ironed-out by end of day Tuesday, one is expected so he will also be returning to Fox soon.
