More Lost this season

April 12, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

According to an exclusive report by E! On-Line’s Kristin Dos Santos, a deal has been reached to produce and air a fourteenth episode of ABC’s hit TV series Lost this year.

But there’s a catch–fans will have to wait until the end of May to see it.

The first hour of the three-hour season finale will air May 15th. Fans will have to wait two weeks until May 29th to see the conclusion. The conclusion will run as a two-hour episode.

Dos Santos said that the extended running time was needed by the writers and producers to fully conclude the fourth season of the hit show. After writing an 80 page finale, the producers realized that in order to do the story justice and serve the fans of the show, an extra episode was needed. ABC signed off according to reports and will shuffle around season finales of Lost and several other Thursday series

It’s all very strange ..I thought we were promised 3 more seasons of 16 episodes each and the deal was inked last year. Even the LOST podcast mentioned as such.

I would love to see an extra hour, but I’d rather they stick it on next season’s run or at during the last season. I don’t want them to rush to fill another hour and have it be a dreaded filler episode.

With a 14 episode season and the last episode running 2 hours, that’s equal to 15 episodes. So technically only cheated out of 1. No big deal. Chunky, that’s not SERIES finale, but SEASON finale. We still get 2 more seasons.

This is not an exclusive. TVGuide reported the story on Friday. (/nitpick off)

zeeterman, the last (2-hour) episode is technically episodes #13 and #14 aired back-to-back. So it’s two less than the planned 16-episode order. But 14 is still better than 13.
