monopoly-the-movie.jpgHasbro Inc. announced today that is has signed a six-year deal with Universal Pictures to make at least four movies based on well-known games like Monopoly, Battleship, Candy Land and Ouija.

The first movie from the deal is set to be released in either 2010 or 2011, with Universal releasing at least one film per year thereafter, according to a written statement from both companies. No word if the films will be live-action, CG animation or a combination of both.

Hasbro has been big in movies of late with the huge success of “Transformers.” They will be involved with the production of the Transformers sequel and the upcoming “G.I. Joe” big screen feature film.

    Candy Land? What kind of acid-trip, burton-esque, mind warp is *that* going to be like?

    @GazerBeam
    There actually is a “Candy Land” movie. Its one of those sickeningly cute cartoons aimed at kids, complete with musical numbers and dancing licorice.

    Then they made a game based off the movie.

    Considering the high quality production of video game movies, I am fully confident *snort* that these movies will go forth and become modern classics *chortle* that will shine throughout the test of time. BWWHAhHAhahAahahaa

    I can’t even type that seriously.

    At least most video games have a storyline (though some may be basic). What storyline does Candy Land have? Or Ouija, for that matter?

    Honestly, Ouija would probably be the easiest one to make. It’ll probably be some shitty PG-13 teen horror movie about a bunch of teens messing with a Ouija board.

    […] it, but it could be true. Especially after Hasbro announced movies based on some of its popular board games. This probably should have been a hoax […]
