Stevens Is “Lost”

October 12, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

uptownpre.jpgVeteran actor/director & producer Fisher Stevens (“Slow Burn,” “Red Angel”) will join the flutuating cast of the ABC hit series “Lost,” bringing into the flesh the mysterious, disembodied voice of Minkowski, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This character, heard, but never seen before Stevens signed on, was the voice on the other side of the satellite phone last season that was found by a hunting party of the stranded occupants on the island.

The character, which was referred to several times toward the end of last season, was only heard talking to Jack (Matthew Fox) on the phone and told the survivors in the third-season finale they will be rescued soon.

Many fans of the show have tied the name of the character to the German mathematician Hermann Minkowski, whose Minkowski space formula– a four-dimensional system including the three dimensions of space plus the dimension of time — was used in Einstein’s theory of special relativity.

The actor served as executive producer for the film “A Prairie Home Companion” and directed the TV series “Early Edition.”

I feel compelled to point out Fisher Stevens two most cheesy roles:

    1) Ben, the Indian guy, in the short circuits
    2) The Plague in Hackers.

Ha! I knew he looked familiar!

The Plague: “Never fear, I is here.”

The Plague: “This is the end, my friend. Thank you for calling.”

Actually, the only thing I’ve seen him in was the movie “Super Mario Bros.”, playing the character Iggy (one of Koopa’s bumbling henchmen).
