Classic Animation Gets Interactive Online Home

September 7, 2007 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

00000superman-wonder-woma.jpgSome of your favorite cartoon characters, such as George Jetson, Fred Flintstone, Superman, Wonder Woman and a full array of other famous Warner, DC Comics, Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera characters will get new life online at T-Works, a new Website created by Warner Bros.

In addition to a deep catalog of broadband video, the site will allow users to interact in a virtual world populated by Warners characters, not unlike the popular Second Life, according to columnist Josef Adalian. T-Works will also have interactive features like video games and virtual worlds.

“T-Works will serve as a great marketing platform for all the studio’s businesses, helping us to reach audiences in a space and in a manner that’s all about Warner Bros,” said Warners chairman-CEO Barry Meyer, who announced the initiative yesterday.

What will make this new venture exciting is the ability users will have to interact with their favorite animated characters allowing fans to mix and match the interaction between characters such as Superman and Wonder Woman fighting crime together or George Jetson taking a journey back in time to hang out with Fred and Barney at the local prehistoric fast-food joint. This is all accomplished through T-Works and Warners’ mashup support wed to user-generated animated videos.

The ultimate goal of T-Works is to act as a direct competitor with the Walt Disney Co. and its children-based networking site known as Club Penguin. One major difference is T-Works will also be making content available that is suitable for teens and young adults as well.
