It’s the return everyone’s been frelling waiting for! SCIFI.COM has ordered a 10-part webisode series based on the multi-award-winning Farscape, the fan and critical darling that has been widely recognized as one of the greatest sci-fi series in television history. Executive produced by Brian Henson and Robert Halmi, Jr., and produced by The Jim Henson Company, in association with RHI Entertainment, the series will revive and expand the beloved “Farscape” universe.

Some other Web programming from SCI FI will be the following:

SCI FI TECH

This hosted show is a companion to SCIFI.COM’s successful technology blog, the ultimate online destination for updates and reviews on all the hottest new gadgets. SCI FI Tech, a live-action, weekly series will capture the edgy, unique tone of the blog and take it to the next level as the show’s host tests these new gadgets in real-life and often extreme scenarios. SCI FI Tech is produced by Peacock Productions.

INVENT THIS!

In this informative yet lighthearted weekly original series, SCIFI.COM will set out to find the world’s quirkiest inventions and reveal the secrets behind what brings these wacky contraptions to life. Invent This will also get into the minds of each of the brilliant and eccentric inventors behind each creation, and gets to the bottom of what makes them tick as well. The series is produced by Peacock Productions.

Wonder how many of the cast they can get together for this? And will it before or after the peacekeeper wars?

I have to admit, I’ve never seen a single episode of Farscape but have always heard it was great. Where does it fall in comparison to, say, Firefly, BSG or Trek (any of them)?

Right up there in that Top 5 with Trek, BSG, Firefly & The 4400 dingo. Farscape is truly one of the best SF series ever broadcast on TV.

SCI FI didn’t go into detail however, about which form this new online Farscape would take, live-action, animation, Henson puppets only or, as in the actual TV series with Browder and Black, real live-action/Henson’s puppet magic and CGI. I am hoping for the latter as in the original series. Browder and Black are both free now that the weekly grind of pumping out SG-1 shows is over. Although, currently Browder and Black are shooting the 2nd Stargate DVD film and is busy on the new SCI FI miniseries “Going Homer.” But, wouldn’t it be nice to have them back on that frelling ship with its motely crew?

I’ll, of course, second what Sam said!

If you’re thinking about giving Farscape a try you might want to first listen to this brief (10 minute) newbie friendly introduction podcast that we created at ‘The ScapeCast’…

For me, it is personally the best sci-fi show that has come out in the last 20 years. I can’t help but watch it in its entirety every few months.

As one of the people involved with bringing about The Peacekeeper Wars (and I’m eternally grateful to TPTB for bringing a conclusion to that storyline) I can’t frelling wait to see this!
