Author Jim Butcher On Slice of SciFi Show #112, June 6, 2007

June 3, 2007 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

07_jim_butcher.jpgWe caught of with author Jim Butcher at this year’s Arizona Book Fair and snagged him for an interview for Slice of SciFi and our sister program The Dragon Page – Cover to Cover. Jim was a guest on Slice back in October of last year when “The Dresden Files” had first debuted on television, and it is always good when we can get him to return to the show.

Jim gives us an update of what is happening with “The Dresden Files” on television over at the SCI FI Channel, as well as, what he has been up to lately in the novel department, especially his fantasy series “Codex Alera,” the stories which chronicle the life of a man named Tavi in the empire of Alera on the world of Carna.

We have a show jam-packed with news, film and TV updates, a “Pirates” movie review and that great interview with Jim Butcher. The Slice of SciFi Show #112 will be ready for you to download online June 6, 2007 and is available on XM Satellite Radio one week later.

Am I the only one who reckons that US television should leave British shows the hell alone? The Office got lucky and managed to break out, but for the love of God, what the hell makes them think they can remake Life on Mars?!?

They can’t. It will be a disaster. But somebody in TV land has decreed this the “Year of SciFi” because of the success of Heroes (and maybe Galactica). So now everybody is scrambling to find SF properties and since they can’t steal the good Doctor from the BBC they’ll try something else. Ugh!
