The reports that Kyle Minogue would appear in this year’s “Doctor Who” Christmas special appear to be little more than rumors, according to executive producer, Russell T. Davies.
The story appeared last week in Sunday’s News of the World and quickly spread across the Internet.
But speaking to the BBC’s in-house magazine, “Ariel,” Davies refuted the story.
“Don’t be stupid,” he told the publication. “I haven’t even written the script yet, and a woman like that is booked up two years in advance.”
The future of restoring lost “Doctor Who” episodes via animation is up in the air.
2|Entertain’s ,the company that produced the “Doctor Who” DVDs, commision editor David Hall recently posted on the Doctor Who Restoration Team’s web site that his company would not be comissioning any new animated episodes.
“After due consideration and for the foreseeable future, we are withdrawing from co-commissioning and co-producing any “classic” Doctor Who animations,” said Hall. “I feel our energies will be better spent working on existing stories. With the New Series such a success, and the forthcoming animations for Totally Doctor Who, the BBC is in a far superior position to develop this idea. After all, the original commission of The Invasion came from them.”
However, Hall said that hope is not lost for fans to see the lost episodes restored. The company recently issued a call out to animators to work and will pass along any ideas they get to the BBC. The BBC could decide to commission future animated episodes.
Tony says
I fully expect the next Doctor to be sporting a white muscle shirt and a big bushy moustache if Mr.Davies has anything to do with it..so the Kylie rumour was fairly realistic.
