March 22, 2007 By Sam Sloan 18 Comments

“Battlestar Galactica” fans have something big to celebrate. The SCI FI Channel and parent company NBC Universal have given the groundbreaking show a full slate of 22 episodes for Season Four of this Peabody Award winning SF series. The new episodes will be ready for the 2008 viewing season.

And, in a real exciting surprise, Bonnie Hammer, President of the SCI FI Channel, announced that the cable network will be presenting a special 2-hour “Galactica” movie this fall.

So this means that Ron Moore has to wrap up the storyline in season 4 and so there will be no season 5???

Trekscaper, i heard the same thing… a rumor that if they get a full 22 episode season, Ron Moore may want to rap it up. We’ll see what happens.

This talk of Season 4 being the last has been rumored since before the announcement last month of 13 episodes for season four. Now it will get all 22.
I had decided not to put anything about it on Slice because at this point it is all unsubstantiated rumor. It may well end of being true, but first I want to get verification from someone inside SCI FI or NBC, or until an official press release, before committing to a story.

Where’s your journalistic spirit? Don’t you know that as a member of the media, you’re supposed to come up with the headline and make the facts fit it?

One more thing…. 2008? We’ll have to wait 9 months minimum for new episodes? Frak me…

Love the movie idea…sounds like a certain pilot may make a comeback after all. I damn hope we don’t have to wait til 2008 to see new shows.

If we’re starting rumors, can I start one about a Serenity sequel?

It all seemed like good news with extention to 22 eps and 2hr film but then heard an interview with Bamber and he believes season 4 will be the last of bsg.

Got to take the good with the bad I guess.

This season was the last for me.

This show not only jumped the shark but it fell in the water afterwards, sank to the bottom and got stung to death by jellyfish.

    Meh.

I hope season 4 is better than Season 3. Here is a thought, get rid of the Lawyers, and politics and stories surrounding them and get back to SCI-FI. Season 3 90% LAME.
