Brian K. Vaughan, the lad behind such popular comic vehicles as “Runaways,” “Ultimate X-Men,” “Y:The Last Man,” “Ex-Machina” and others, has signed on the dotted line to be the new Executive Story Editor for ABC’s hit SF show “LOST”. Joss Whedon also recently stated that Vaughn was his pick to write four issues of the highly anticipated comic rendition for the eighth season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
Th “Lost” gig had been rumored for some time but Brian has been tight-lipped and on his website he finally gave the reason behind his coyness, “I always like to wait until the contracts have been signed and the “first trimester” has been survived until I talk about stuff.”
Walking into the writer’s room of a major television studio was a new experience for Vaughn. What he learned in just a short time there opened his eyes to the pressures that series writers get put through on a regular basis, changing his outlook about the nature of creating product for the ever-changing landscape of a television weekly production.
“I’ve learned more about the creative process in two weeks inside the Lost writers’ room than I did in four years at NYU’s film school,” admitted Vaughn. So, hopefully, this new challenge will push me to become a stronger writer and help my work to evolve.”
