Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, is the role-playing video game that brings together superheroes from the Marvel Comics universe. The game allows players to create their own dream team from a roster of superheroes that includes Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade and Captain America to embark on an epic quest that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and the Marvel Universe. It is now available nationwide for the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, PSP and for the GameBoy Advance. PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii versions will be available in mid-November.
Guild Wars Nightfall, the new PC-based online role-playing game, became available in stores in North America and Europe just last week. Nightfall is the latest campaign release in the award-winning Guild Wars series, created by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft and is set in the land of Elona, where an evil ruler is attempting to summon her outcast god. Nightfall calls upon its players to rally with the Sunspears—the protectors of the realm—to fight back the looming darkness descending upon the land. The game willl introduce some new features, including customizable “Hero” companions that level up, use weapons and skills of the player’s choosing and go forth with him or her into battle. “Hero Battles” are one-on-one challenges that allow two players and their hero companions to compete against one another in new player-vs.-player gameplay. New templates will let players save, store and exchange hero builds, providing countless combinations to create the ultimate team of heroes. Twenty new missions, hundreds of new skills, new armor, two fierce new professions and endless replayability is the highlight of Nightfall.
From Midway Games comes the Unreal Anthology, a compilation of Unreal’s video-game titles for the PC, including Unreal Tournament and the original Unreal. The anthology includes Unreal (including the Return to Na Pali expansion pack), Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament (the “Game of the Year” edition) and Unreal Tournament 2004 (the “Editor’s Choice” edition, with a mega bonus pack).
Not wanting to be unnoticed in the fray, Electronic Arts has unveiled plans for another Lord of the Rings video game, a new SimCity game and a next-generation version of Black. EA also revealed the release window of two of its highest-profile games. Crysis, Crytek’s hotly anticipated PC shooter, and Army of Two, the co-op actioner for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The hoped-for date of release for all these is near the end of March 2007.
