Serenity’s Jewel Staite Lurks In the Pegasys Galaxy

October 31, 2006 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

staite01.jpgFirefly/Serenity actress Jewel Staite, who played Serenity’s mechanic Kaylee Frye, will become a semi-regular on the hit SCI FI Channel series “Stargate: Atlantis.” She announced the news on her Web site.

It looks like she will be in a good part of Season Four, appearing in at least 13 episodes, maybe more, according to actor Joe Flanigan (Col. John Shepperd) over at SG1-Atlantis.com.

This will not be her first visit to the set of Atlantis. In Season Two she played a Wraith in the episode entitled “Instinct.” Jewel also confirmed that she doesn’t yet have full details on her character and stated, “I can confirm that I will be coming on to Stargate Atlantis for a few episodes,” Staite wrote. “I still have no idea who I’m playing, but I do know it’s female. I hope. Anyway, I’m really excited to be going back, and they’re a great bunch of people and — major plus! — it shoots at home! So watch for that next season.”

Now all of us Firefly/Serenity fans have one more reason to get hooked on Stargate: Atlantis.

Jewel mentioned this at a Con appearence, before she’d definately gotten the job. Apparently the role will be as a Doctor on Atlantis.

I hope we see more of her than we saw of Moriena(sp?) on Stargate.
