It would seem that the slight downward trend that ABC’s “LOST” began toward the end of last season continued with the new opener on Wednesday night. However, don’t fear for the show, “LOST” is no loser and is still a real ratings hog for ABC’s mid-week programming.
The good news is that the all-important 18-49 age group still watched strongly with a 19 share in that category and the show still garnered nearly 19 million viewers (18.82) overall.
“LOST” fans do need to stay vigilent however, because the program will only show six episodes total this fall before going on an extended hiatus to allow the debut of Taye Diggs’ new SF show “Day Break” in the “LOST” timeslot. These next five episodes need to come on very strong in case Diggs’ show really catches on. ABC will need to be soothed that after the sixth episode, fans will return in winter 2007 for the remaining episodes of “LOST.”
