Former “Top Of The Pops” presenter Reggie Yates will play a leading role in the new series of Doctor Who. The BBC Radio 1 DJ Yates, 23, will star as the brother of the Time Lord’s new assistant, medical student Martha Jones – played by Freema Agyeman.
Actor Dean Lennox Kelly, best known as Kev in the popular C4 drama “Shameless,” will guest star as William Shakespeare in an upcoming episode the requires the famed literary writer to give a performance in which its outcome will determine the fate of Earth.
Also look for these other new characters in the longest running scifi show in world history:
Trevor Laird, who starred as Frax in a 1985 episode of Doctor Who, will plays Martha’s father, and Adjoa Andoh, will star as her mother. Andoh played Sister Jatt in the recent “New Earth” episode of Doctor Who.
The third season of Doctor Who will continue to feature David Tennant as the Doctor and returns on the BBC in 2007.
