Les’ Worldwide Film Trek

May 21, 2006 By Lesmond Leave a Comment

Movie News from India:

Rakesh Roshan, the famed director from India made a serious attempt at scifi in 2003 with Bollywood’s first ever venture into the genre in the film titled “Koi…Mil Gaya,” a film that bore a strong resemblence to Spielberg’s “E.T. the Extraterrestrial.”

Roshan is revving up another scifi flick called “Krrish,” in which a child named Krishna, who is raised by his grandmother after the death of his parents in a car crash, begins to exhibit uncanny abilities and superpowers. Reminiscint of the Superman saga, Krishna moves to the big city of Singapore where he and a TV news journalist meet up (Kent and Lane?) and the adventures begin.

Soon to arrive on the scene is a mad scientist named Dr. Siddhant Arya out to change the world into his demented image (Lex Luthor?). Krishna is the only thing that can stop the mad doctor from fulfilling his plans for Earth, and as a result of this threat Krishna becomes the superhero Krrish.

“Krrish” like Roshan’s “Koi” is expected to break all previous Bollywood box office records and will open to a worldwide audiene on June 30, 2006.

Movie News from Hawaii:

Low-budget/high grossing movie king Roger Corman has made a return to Kaua’i, Hawaii after a fifty year absence to film another of his quick-finish, low-budget movies. Corman’s last trip to the islands brought the world two of his classic horror/terror films, “She Gods of Shark Reef” and “Thunder Over Hawaii.”

This new venture will be a made for The Sci-Fi Channel Saturday Movie Night special called “Primeval” and will star Brad Johnson (Always) and Kelly McGillis (Top Gun). The film is about science run amuk after a failed DNA genetic experiement (The Island of Dr. Moreau?).
