Favreau Helms Iron Man

April 28, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 2 Comments

Marvel Comics icon “Iron Man” is coming to the big screen as a live-action feature for Paramount and Jon Favreau (Zathura: A Space Adventure, Elf) is set to direct. No set date for release is cast in iron just yet, but the studio is hoping for distribution sometime in 2008.

Also on Marvel’s docket for 2008 is the “Hulk” sequel and then followed in 2009 by the release of “Captain America.”

Marvel is looking to independently finance all three of these flicks from the $525 million debt fund from Merrill Lynch.

Now what would be REALLY cool, is if they did Iron Man vs Hulk in a sequel, with the Hulkbuster Armor.

I wish all the Marvel movies were done by the same studio so we could have cameos of the various heroes in each others’ movies. But as the licensing stands right now, its impossible.

So would that be the oft rumored strait to video / David Ducovney Hulk sequel or an honest to god theater version?

And at least Favreau is just directing Iron Man. He has no plans to don the suit… does he?
