OK kids, now that Star Trek XI is a go the rumors are already starting to fly.

IGN FilmForce (usually a reliable source) is stating that Oscar winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is apparently being considered by J.J. Abrams (Hoffman’s boss on Mission Impossible 3) to play a Star Fleet Medical Officer in the upcoming untitled STAR TREK: XI film.

While this news is highly possible because of Abrams’ and Hoffman’s good working relationship in the past, I would still treat this as rumor until we can verify it with an official Paramount or Abrams production team source.

One thing we can report that is not rumor. It is official that Rick Berman will not be involved with the STAR TREK: XI feature film.
