The new season of Doctor Who will begin airing episodes on April 15, 2006 on BBC One in the UK. David Tennant is The Doctor, after making his debut replacing Christopher Eccleston on the Christmas special. Billie Piper returns as Rose.
Also on tap at some point this season it’s beginning to look like the Doctor finds an old friend roving around, a little rusted and the worse for wear, but alive and well none the less.
Can you guess who it is?
Brad Bowyer says

Andrea says
YAY K9!!!!!! When I was younger and my Dad made us all watch Doctor Who with him (THANKS DAD) I wanted him to be our family pet
fred says
K-9 had his own show as I recall. Sarah (from the Tom Baker era) also starred in the show.
Ennev says

Rob says
i’m pretty sure Sarah turns up in the new series as well, maybe it’s with K9.
if anyone is interested, you can check out the trailer for the new series on the BBC website if you do a little search.
space battles and werewolves included.
Kurt says
Keep an eye out for Anthony Stewart Head in the upcoming season too!
Nigel in Melbourne says
k-9 Sarah and Anthony Stewart Head are all in the same story, called “Back to School” I think.
Also on the Doctor Who front. The BBC is releasing “nano” eps of the show. Officially called “Tadisodes” These are 60 second long stories to do with, but in addition to, the new season. You can get them online. or (for those in the UK) sent to your mobile phone.

Totally new to Who – I’ve only seen about 4 eps so far – whats with the new doc at the end of the season? I like the guy they have now…
Randy R. says
dingosatematemybaby,
A timelord’s body will regenerate at a time of death. This means their body changes into a different person. This was started because they original actor wanted to quit the role and the BBC wanted to keep the series going. So they came up with this idea that would have a new actor take the place of an the old actor that was leaving the part. This is part of the reason that Doctor who is the longest running Sci-Fi show in history. Brilliant if you ask me. Supposedly timelords only have 12 regenerations and since David Tennant is the eleventh doctor, I do not know what they are going to do after the next guy. I guess the ‘Master’ made it past 12 regenerations, so the Doctor probably will to.
Speaking of the ‘Master’, I heard that they were bringing him back for this series also. You just know they have to bring back the Doctors arch nemesis. Won’t it be a shock for him when the Doctor realizes he is nto the only time lord left. I even heard rumors that they might get Tom Baker to play the part of the Master.

Thanks for the explanation. So I guess the current Doc didnt want to do 2 seasons, or do they only ever last one season? Sorry if these are stoopid questions, I’m 39 so I’ve heard of the show but until it hit SciFi I never watched it. Now I’m playing catch-up…
