America, Your Long Wait for Doctor Who is Over

March 12, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 2 Comments

Get ready. Put on that leather jacket and hold on to your Tardis America… the wait is over.

This Friday, March 17, 2006 at 9PM/ET and 8PM/CT the SciFi Channel premieres a 2-Hr season opener of Doctor Who starring Christopher Eccelston and Billie Piper. Each Friday thereafter, until the return of Stargate: Atlantis, all the new first seaon episodes of the ninth Doctor Who will be aired.

Other characters tripping in for a visit are Captain Jack (John Barrowman), Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke), Jackie Tyler (Camille Coduri); and lest we forget, our favorite gateway through space and time – The Tardis.

This Friday SciFi will air two episodes back-to-back, “Rose” and “The End of the World.” In the first, Rose meets up with The Doctor for the very first time and her life is forever changed. In the latter, the story continues as The Doctor takes Rose on her first journey in the Tardis to five billion years in the future where she witnesses the Earth swallowed up by an expanding Sun. But they are not alone as alien races from all over the galaxy gather to witness this momentus and terrifying event. Among them lurks a murderer.

So, if you are like me, you already have the shelves stocked with junk food, the fridge is loaded with cold beverages and the DVR or TiVo is set to record —– and off we gooooooooooooooo!

Hah. Of course I’m in London on the day it airs in the US after waiting so long to see it 🙁

My DVR is set, and it’ll be the first thing I watch after I return. Gotta have something to help me from BSG withdrawl.
