David Gerrold Makes a New Voyage

January 16, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

“Star Trek: New Voyages” adds another big name to its ever growing list of Star Trek alum that have crossed over to this fanfilm industry. I call it an industry because with names like D.C. Fontana, Walter Koenig, George Takei, and now David Gerrold, you can hardly call it just a small-time “in-your-basement” project.

Lead star and Executive Producer James Cawley wants to make it perfectly clear however, that regardless of who in Hollywood decides to join forces with him and the entire NV cast and crew, the project has been and will continue to be an enterprise made by fans for fans.

At the announcement of his joining the New Voyages team Gerrold echoed the same sentiment saying “New Voyages is produced by fans for fans, and they are great!”

David has two stories on line, “The first is a re-worked Blood and Fire, which was originally pitched for TNG, but ultimately rejected for it’s controversial storyline, dealing with an AIDS-like virus and homosexuality.”

“This is a real coup for all of us here at New Voyages. David’s involvement will give us the opportunity to deal with socially relevant topics, just as the original series did.” enthused Cawley.

To learn more about Gerrold’s move to New Voyages go to the Star Trek: New Voyages Website and read what other important storylines he has planned for future NV episodes.

How about David Gerrold finishing his “War against the Chtorr” book series? We’ve been waiting for the next one for way over ten years now!

But again, these books were probably way to smart for the general market…
