Kirk / Spock Prequel?

November 8, 2005 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

SHATNER PLANS STAR TREK PREQUEL

Former STAR TREK Captain William Shatner, wants to bring the ground-breaking re-visioned series back to television. He is reportedly writing a pilot for a prequel to the original series which he and Leonard Nimoy headlined.

The actor, who played Captain James T Kirk in the original Star Trek series, 7 big screen STAR TREK features, voice work for the STAR TREK animated series, and author of several successful STAR TREK novels, wants to bring back to the show that excitement and sense of wonderment found in the early days of the franchise.

He is currently working on a treatment that will pre-date his first on-screen appearance as the famous Captain of the Enterprise NCC-1701.

He says, “I’m writing a couple of books on the adolescent Captain Kirk/Spock thing as a prequel. It’s also an idea for CBS to use as the next series of Star Trek.”

If I may quote the good Captain, “Sounds like fun!”

Who knows? Bill is carrying an awlful lot of clout these days with his two Emmy wins and rave reviews for his punking of Iowa special last season. Just the fact that he is Bill Shatner has to at least get him a sit-down with Moonves. So, it’s just a wait and see I suppose.

I have been a star trek fan since the beginning.Thou not all star trek is the same.I have for many years wished that they
would make a new series with the same concept as the orignal
in the same timeline and ships.A new series with this reciepe is bound to be a success.I and many other fans have wished for this for 35 years.Lets hope it comes true. A devoted Trekker for life.I just recently purchased a Master Replica of the orignal U.S.S. Enterprise an exact copy of the one used to make the orignal series.I think I LOVE IT MORE THAN MY WIFE !!! Good luck with the new series
