In a followup to our earlier story, the Luke Skywalker light saber that was used by Mark Hamill in the original Star Wars movie sold at auction for $200,600.00. The saber used by Darth Vader brought in a little more than half that price, going for $118.00.00.
The items were part of Gary Kurtz’s personal collection. Kurtz is a producer and created the most well-known archive of memorabilia from the Star Wars theatrical sagas.
According to the holder’s of the auction [Profiles in History], all proceeds from this event, which included other sci-fi items, will go toward helping fund the preservation of current movie artifacts and procuring future memorabilia.
