With Captain America and Thor doing solid box-office business and The Avengers on the horizon, Marvel is looking to continue its streak of box-office success. The studio is developing a script for a potential Doctor Strange feature film, reports MTV News.
Marvel hired Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer last summer to pen a script for the film and the two recently turned in a draft. The two penned the script for this summer’s Cowboy and Aliens and the upcoming Conan reboot.
Marvel has reportedly “drafted a short list of directors to approach on the title,” but no word on who it might include, or as importantly, what actor might eventually don the Cloak of Levitation and set up shop in the Sanctum Sanctorum.

This is nothing new. How many times has there been some type of exploration into doing Doctor Strange?
I can only hope they succeed this time as Strange was (and still is) one of my favorite comic books!!!

OK. To enumerate:
1. Well… It’s about TIME!
2. *insert geeky fan-boy squeal here*
3. Marvel needs to overcome some of the difficulties in dealing with a character who does a lot of introspective thinking and has a lot of out of body experiences… Not good on a big or small screen as a general rule.
4. If Robert Downey Jr wasn’t already playing Tony Stark, he’d be a good fit for Steven Strange – So, the studio needs to come up with someone that has his sort of presence on the screen… Good luck.

This is the best news to come from Marvel. Who knows, Maybe this’ll be the precursor to a “Defenders” movie.
I only hope they do not ‘dumb down’ the Sorcerer Supreme.
Director, Gullermo Del Toro (in the vein of Pans Labyrinth). or James (like Aliens) Cameron to give the magic a dark gravity and handle the demons with sufficient dread.
