A couple of weeks ago, we brought you news about a Christie’s auction to sell a variety of movie props. One of the items up for bid was a Darth Vader costume worn by actor David Prowse during the filming of “The Empire Strikes Back.”
The good news is that if you were hoping to buy the costume, you still have a chance.
The costume failed to sell during the auction, according to the Reuters. The Vader suit was expected to bring in $212, 000 and $305,000 but failed to meet the confidential reserve price with the auction house. It will remain with Christie’s as their property.
What did sell was a prop used by Sean Connery as the original 007. A prop gun used in the poster for “From Russia With Love” went for $439,000. That was fifteen times more than the auction house anticipated.

Once again Star Trek proves to be the scifi memorabilia champ. It brought in uber-millions at its Christie auction a couple of years ago and every item that was auctioned off (and there were literally thousands of pieces sold – large and small) went for astronomical prices.
George, step back and marvel at the universe of Roddenberry and dream on kiddo.
