Pilot never came across as a monster when I was watching the series. I guess they didn't clarify if these were supposed to be good or bad monsters or both when they did this list.

  2. Blue Tube says:

Of all Time really you did mention Frankenstein’s monster but what about the classics :

    Dracula
    Godzilla
    The Blob
    Zombies
    My Mother Inlaw

  3. Emily says:

I would argue Lorne, like pilot, is not a monster in the since of the word. In the Buffy universe, Lorne was a demon but not a monster. And if he was a monster, he was the worst monster ever, because he was the most kind hearted guy on the show, not including Cordy (in a amazing use of character development)

  4. Jan from Denmark (babylonlurker) says:

I have to agree with Emily on those two, and add that Aslan should not be on a Monster's list, either

  5. Jonathan says:

This list is really terrible. Gollum,Gizmo, Slimer, Nibbler, The Great Dragon, Aslan-The Greatest Sci-Fi Monsters of All Time?

  6. Emily says:

And I have to say that some of the worst episodes of the new Doctor Who are Dalek episodes. See the Evolution of the Dalek two parter, and Journey's End.

  7. Mic7 says:

Aslan? A monster? Did the person who made out the list even see the movie?

  8. Eric says:

    2. Lorne (Angel)? What? He's one of the good guys. WTF

  9. k9 says:

These favorite lists things usaully suck!!!! This is another example.

  10. Sista Soul-Jah' says:

Without a doubt the scariest sci-fi monster of all time is Ol' Fat Neck himself!

  11. How about the monster of id from Forbidden Planet? (Is that what it was called?) And I've always been a fan of the Brundlefly at the end of David Cronenberg's remake of The Fly

And Gollum is from a fantasy series

  12. Rincewind1 says:

Pratchett's Death one of the greatest monsters ? Theres some inherant scariness in the character but he's actually a beloved character among the readers , not at all a monster to be feared.........

  13. Tim the Avatarless says:

The Fly / Brundlefly (modern version)
Deadly Mantis / the THEM ants/ the Deadly Tarantula / Black Scorpion
Any of a number of Ray Harryhausen creations
Frankenstein Monster / Dracula / Wolfman / Phantom of the Opera / Mr Hyde
Mutant from This Island Earth / Monster from the Id in Forbidden Planet / Molemen
The Bodysnatchers / The Puppetmasters / War of the Worlds Martian Invaders
Any one of a number of classic Outer Limits creations
The Thing / Thing from another World / The Blob
the Girl in the Exorcist / little Damien from the Omen / Carrie
Jason / Freddy / Michael Myers
Space Slugs / Critters / Gremlins / Poltergeists

But Nibbler and Lorne? Are they freakin' kidding?
The American Film Institute would have been a great start for them.

    Jabba?

  15. Tim the Avatarless says:

RoF, your Jabba is not out of line. I went to the SFX and read the heading of the poll. Actually, I have revised my opinions as this is not merely about monsters; their results are really diverse and impartial (with a somewhat British flavor, which is understandable). Look at some of the other polls as well.
