If you can’t get enough “Grand Theft Auto” and you’ve got an iPhone or an iTouch, we’ve got good news for you.
The popular videogame is coming to both popular hand helds later this year.
“Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars” will get a release for the iPhone and iTouch this fall. Rockstar Games originally developed the title for the Nintendo DS, but it never caught on in the same way it has on other console systems. The game has an agreement with the PSP that is set to expire later this year, at which point it will be offered to Apple users who just can’t get enough driving around the city and commiting random acts of violence.
The big question surrounding the release of the game is what will the price point be.
Users have resisted paying more than ten dollars for a game or application on the iTunes store. The game does have a chance of being reasonably priced, however. Rockstar Games has already spent the biggest portion of the development budget in coming up with the game for the other two platforms. Porting it over to the iPhone should be cost effective and may keep the price point lower for consumers.
And with one of the bigger video game franchises heading to the popular handheld devices, it’s expected that other game developers will soon follow the lead.
