“Stargate: Universe” Announces Guest Stars

April 16, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

As production begins on “Stargate: Universe,” SciFi has announced a list of upcoming guest-stars for the third installment in the “Stargate” franchise. Fans will find some familiar faces among those who will make a guest appearance during the first season of the show, which is set to debut on SciFi later this year.

The guest cast will include Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Gary Jones, as well as Christopher McDonald, Janelle Monáe and Carlo Rota.

A full list of guest stars follows.

  • Anderson reprises the role of Gen. Jack O’Neill, former head of SG-1.
  • McDonald plays U.S. senator Alan Armstrong, head of the International Oversight Committee that governs the Stargate program and father of Chloe Armstrong.
  • Monáe, a Grammy-nominated recording artist, plays herself; she and her band will perform “Many Moons” and “Sincerely,” two songs from her latest album, Metropolis.
  • Tapping reprises the role of Lt. Col. Samantha Carter from “SG-1.”
  • Shanks reprises the role of Dr. Daniel Jackson from “SG-1.”
  • Jones reprises the role of Chief Master Sgt. Walter Harriman, commander technician of the team.
  • Rota plays Carl Strom, head of the International Oversight Advisory, the civilian oversight committee that heads up the Atlantis Expedition.

I guess we’ll have to wait until Season 4, again.

I’m concerned that they’re having musical guests? When did this turn into the Stargate Variety Hour?

It’s also supposed to have gay characters, so maybe it will be a variety show after all.

You know, when the producers of this series were describing it, they kept on saying that it was being directed towards a younger audience (making people imagine it as “Stargate: 90210”). But the more I hear about it, the more it seems that it’s being targeted at a more mature audience. “SG-1” and “Atlantis” seemed fairly family-friendly. But this new series does not.

In fact, it seems more like “BSG” than anything, and everyone knows how family-friendly THAT was.

A mix between SG and BSG can do more good than bad though. 🙂

I Really hate to say it but Im not looking forward to this show, Yes I LOVE Stargate but I only Liked Stargate SG-1 The Original is Always the best the most creditable, gaining the most viewers and loyalty. Atlantis I never liked it because it seems like the storylines for these charectors are more like the storylines already used on SG-1.

Whats there to say if Universe is worse then Atlantis, But Im betting it will be. Its more like a Soup Opera then a third installment of Stargate. Your bringing Young Actors In that Look Like Teenagers bringing more drama when it should be surprise and to keep us guessing.

Im Sorry I will only be watching universe when the Actors from the Original are on the show. Who knows if that will even keep me tuned in.
